The Aurea Debate club won four of five rounds in the national qualifier and takes a place at the regional competition for the second year running.
The delegation is six students: four from higher education and two from twelfth grade, the first time the team has mixed the two levels in an official competition.
“The age gap shows in the first few practices and stops showing by the third week,” says Inés Carrillo, the club's staff coach. “A good argument has no age.”
The regional format is British parliamentary, with motions handed out fifteen minutes before each round. The team has trained three times a week since June, with open sessions on Thursdays at 16:00 in the Aula Magna.
The competition runs from 12 to 15 November with delegations from six countries. AUREA covers entry and travel through the student representation fund.
