Methodology note
How this indicator is built.
The definition, the formula and — above all — what the indicator does not let you claim.
01
Definition
The total number of students registered at schools across the country in pre-primary, basic and upper secondary education, across all routes and administrations, at the close of the school year's enrolment period.
02
Formula
The sum of students enrolled in pre-primary, basic and upper secondary, deduplicated across schools using the unique student identifier.
03
Disaggregations
Education level · Sex · Area · Administration · Session · Route · Department
04
Notes on interpretation
Enrolment is an administrative snapshot: it reflects who signed up, not who stayed the whole year. The retention rate is what measures that.
05
Limitations
It excludes higher education and non-school vocational training, which are reported in separate registers.
